Seven days on from the Denver Broncos’ 14-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the NFL preseason gets underway in earnest on Thursday night with 11 games on the slate. It all kicks off when the two New York rivals, the Giants and the Jets, collide at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. While the two teams share tenancy of the arena, matchups between the Big Apple rivals are relatively rare occasions....

The second-to-last NFL tuneup starts with three games on Friday, highlighted by Patriots at Panthers and a Lions at Jaguars matchup on CBS. Saturday’s 11-game slate includes Steelers at Bills on NFL Network, 49ers at Broncos, Eagles at Packers and Seahawks at Chargers on CBS. Both of Sunday’s games will be nationally televised, with the Saints hosting the Texans on FOX and the Cardinals at the Raiders Sunday night on NBC....

Jefferson and Hill are pulling away from the rest of the field in terms of receiving yards this season, with Jefferson leading the way and Hill not far behind with only two games left in the 2022 season. There is no other receiver within 300 yards of either wideout. The extra 17th game to the schedule has already made it a matter of time until new single-season stat records are set, but with the campaigns from Jefferson and Hill, it’s beginning to feel like the two receivers could battle it out for the receiving yards record in 2022 and even challenge for reaching 2,000 receiving yards in a season, a feat never before accomplished....

The decision comes as the Omicron variant continues to spread across the country. Three games were moved back on the Week 15 schedule due to the outbreak. The league previously required vaccinated players to get tested weekly. Players that have tested positive are required to quarantine until they test negative and are cleared to return. Vaccinated players could return to playing within 10 days under the new protocols. The first day of the league’s new protocols saw 47 players put on the reserve list, which is designated for players that have been exposed to COVID-19....

In 2021, there will be more inductees than ever. The 2020 Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the class of 2020 will be honored along with the class of 2021. Further adding to the excitement, the NFL’s class of 2020 features a whopping 20 inductees. It was part of the NFL’s centennial celebration, so 15 candidates were selected for enshrinement along with the five who were voted in that year....

On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, the Vikings will face the Lions in an NFC North showdown. Next, the improving Chargers will face the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. In the night game, the Giants will take on the Redskins in Landover, Md. On Sunday, the two-loss Saints face another tough challenge against the Rams in Los Angeles. Other interesting matchups include Panthers-Jets, Jaguars-Cardinals and an AFC West battle between the Broncos and Raiders....

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the league’s biggest surprise, and the Jags’ league-leading defense takes on the talented offense of the Rams. The search for the first win of the season for the Giants is no easier this week, as the Giants face the Broncos in primetime Sunday night. Sunday afternoon also brings two important divisional matchups. The Packers can build on early dominance in the NFC North if they beat the Vikings in Minneapolis....

According to Decrypt, Okung launched his “Stick to space, Elon,” campaign on Wednesday, targeting Musk’s recent criticism of Bitcoin mining’s energy use....

The stars of the NFL have be depicted as super heroes and the results are awesome. The best thing about it is that some of the pairings actually make sense. Odell Beckham Jr. is Spiderman because of the amazingly good grip. Calvin Johnson is Megatron obviously. Peyton Manning is Iron Man with a Papa John’s pizza box because no matter what he will make the delivery, I guess. Jimmy Graham just seems to have gotten stuck with The Thing because he’s that shade....

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed that the reason the Patriots suspended the two men for their supposed role in Deflategate is because the NFL told them to. This shouldn’t be a surprise. One of the requirements, which the league announced, that came with the suspension was neither employee could be reinstated without league executive vice president Troy Vincent’s approval....

Houston proposed a trade to the Dolphins including a first-round pick and Clowney for offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, according to the Miami Herald. The Dolphins reportedly said no and asked for even more. According to the report, Miami asked for another high draft pick in addition to Clowney and the first-round pick. Clowney, 26, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has 29 career sacks with Houston, but has yet to sign the franchise tag Houston placed on him this offseason....

Le’Veon Bell was last season’s most striking example, skipping camp after being franchise-tagged by the Pittsburgh Steelers for the second successive season. The running back ended up sitting out the whole season, becoming the first player to hold out for an entire season because of the franchise tag since Kansas Chiefs defensive tackle Dan Williams took the same route in 1998. This year is no different, and six players have not shown up at training camp so far....
