Nurses at the Massachusetts hospital asked for officials to investigate the continuance of elective procedures despite the hospital being crowded, the Boston Globe reported. Nurses said patients who needed urgent surgeries for things like brain injuries and broken bones were waiting for operating rooms at times, according to the letter written by the Massachusetts Nurses Association. In November, Governor Charlie Baker announced an emergency order to reduce non-essential and non-urgent elective surgeries by 30 percent....

The bill was approved by a 41-7 city council vote on December 15 and went into law January 15 when Mayor Eric Adams declined to veto it. It prohibits employers from posting job listings without minimum and maximum salary information. The law applies to any employer with four or more employees and will begin being enforced May 15. That includes contract workers, interns and freelancers. According to the new law, it will be considered “an unlawful discriminatory practice” for an employer to advertise a job without the new provisions....

There’s nothing worse than sitting next to a screaming child on a flight, so New York Police Department (NYPD) officer Yaritza Martinez decided to take matters into her own hands. Watson, a Cleveland Browns quarterback, faced a number of sexual misconduct and assault allegations, the majority of which have now been settled. He has been suspended for six games by the NFL as a result of the two dozen claims made against him. He has settled 23 of the 24 lawsuits to date. ESPN reported that Oakland’s financial partner, Fortress — a private equity firm — has committed to loan $650 million toward the stadium rather than act a guarantor for things such as personal seat licenses, sponsorships and suites. The city of Oakland would provide $200 million in public funding for the site, $150 million of which would be advanced by Fortress. The rest of the funding, $500 million, would come from the Raiders and NFL....
