The Fighting Irish have sent out personalized “rookie cards” for its Class of 2018 commits, projecting their stats over a four-year career — starting with a massive (hypothetical) outing against the Wolverines in 2018.

The main takeaway from these cards is that Notre Dame is projecting a 48-10 beatdown in South Bend. Here’s the card for Derrik Allen, the No. 5 safety and No. 54 overall recruit in the 2018 recruiting class (according to 247Sports):

And another for Houston Griffith, the No. 8 cornerback and No. 51 recruit overall:

Other highlights from the cards include:

— Winning a national championship in 2019. — Winning the Jim Thorpe Award as a senior. — Being selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.

It’s certainly a creative recruiting tactic, but we’ll have to dock ND points for a lack of realism: Putting together that kind of a game in a college debut, against what will likely be a top 10 Michigan team, seems a little out there.

But then, Notre Dame did beat Michigan 31-0 the last time they met, in 2014. When you’re coming off a shutout like that, I guess you can take a few liberties with how you recruit your future Jim Thorpe Award winners.
