Can fantasy baseball owners expect more of the same, or is this just an example of the latest top prospect having a big start before fizzling? Here’s my scouting report based on what I’ve seen from Mazara during spring training and while in the minors.

Mazara performed well against big league competition in Cactus League play this spring and is a polished hitter despite being two weeks short of his 21st birthday. He will need to prove he can handle quality off-speed stuff – and the occasional length to his swing will lead to some swings-and-misses – but overall he has a plus offensive tool set.
With good plate discipline, plus bat speed, and excellent raw strength, Mazara has the ability to hit for power and draw plenty of walks. Long-term he profiles to hit 25-plus home runs and, with further development, bat around .270.
For fantasy owners, he’s worth the waiver-wire pickup. There will be ups-and-downs, but Mazara’s power potential makes him stand out as a possible needle-mover.
