In the Boca Raton Bowl, NIU came out of halftime with an onside kick, and it actually worked. Thanks in large part to the sub-par effort by Marshall. For some reason they couldn’t simple grab the ball. At one point it looked like someone was pulling the ball on a string while a Marshall player ran after it.
With sloppy play like that, it wouldn’t be surprising if NIU tried it multiple times throughout the game.
