The Lakers announced Young has a small fracture in his left kneecap and will continue to be evaluated on a weekly basis. The injury is expected to heal with rest, but no timetable for Young’s return was announced.

Young last played Feb. 22 against the Celtics and has missed 24 games due to injury this season. Injuries have been a major issue for the 17-49 Lakers, who have already had Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Ronnie Price and Julius Randle suffer season-ending injuries.

The 29-year-old guard is averaging 13.4 points in 42 games.

Young was at the Lakers’ practice facility Wednesday to take part in an autograph session — and to show off his bizarre new hairstyle:
