New Jersey won this year’s draft lottery and will likely pick Jack Hughes, the top player available at this draft who brings the kind of talent and intrigue a team could build a franchsie around. The Rangers also hit the jackpot by getting the second overall pick and, in turn, the chance to select Finnish winger Kaapo Kakko, the next best available.

Beyond Hughes and Kakko, both of whom possess the ability to transform their respective franchises, the 2019 draft class brings a lot of talent at every position and from a variety of different leagues and programs.

Below is the complete draft order for all seven rounds. The list will be updated with player selections June 21-22, as well as other transactions.

How many rounds are in the NHL Draft?

The NHL Draft consists of seven rounds of 31 picks. Start to finish, a total of 217 players will be drafted from the 2019 class.

How is the NHL Draft order determined?

The order for the first round is determined by a lottery and the outcome of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Pick Nos. 1-15 were set during April’s lottery drawing, and picks 16-27 are decided by the playoff teams that were eliminated in the first two rounds and their point totals. The No. 28 and No. 29 picks go to the conference final losers, and the final two picks go to the Stanley Cup runner-up and Stanley Cup champion respectively.

The order for rounds 2-7 is determined by the inverse of the NHL’s regular-season standings.
