New England has given up just 34 points in its first five games combined, the fewest points allowed at this stage of the season since the Indianapolis Colts conceded 29 in 2005 and the fifth-smallest total since 1970.

On the offensive side of the ball, Tom Brady threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns, surpassing Brett Favre for the third most career passing yards in league history.

The six-time Super Bowl champions kick off Week 6 when they host the New York Giants in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Thursday Night Football.

The G-Men lost 28-10 at home to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday as rookie quarterback Daniel Jones endured a rude awakening after leading his team to a win in Week 4. Jones finished with 182 passing yards on 38 attempts but was sacked four times and threw an interception, while missing at least two opportunities to hit a wide-open Sterling Shepard.

The Giants are 2-3 and it seems unlikely they will be the first team to stop the Patriots this season.

Sunday Night Football sees another two teams with losing records collide as the Los Angeles Chargers host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Chargers slipped to 2-3 after losing 20-13 at home to the Denver Broncos, who picked up their first win of the season. Melvin Gordon made his season debut after sitting out the first month of the season because of a contract dispute but the Chargers running back looked rusty and could only contribute 31 rushing yards over 12 carries.

The Steelers, meanwhile, lost 26-23 in overtime at home against the Baltimore Ravens and are now 1-4. The game was overshadowed by a gruesome injury to Pittsburgh back-up quarterback Mason Rudolph, who left the field concussed after being hit by Ravens safety Earl Thomas II.

Rudolph was left motionless on the turf for a few seconds, with players frantically waving medical staff onto the field. He eventually left the field with the help of the trainers and the Steelers confirmed later on Sunday that he was resting at home after being evaluated in a hospital in Pittsburgh.

Without Rudolph, the Steelers threw Devlin Hodges into the mix and the Samford University product finished the game 7-of-9 for 68 yards.

Week 6 ends with an all-NFC North affair as the Detroit Lions travel to Green Bay to face the Packers.

The Lions are 2-1-1 and had a bye in Week 5, while the Packers made a strong statement by winning 34-24 in Dallas against the Cowboys.

Aaron Jones rushed for 107 yards over 19 carries and finished with four rushing touchdowns as the Packers moved to 4-1.

TV coverage

The current season marks the sixth year under the current broadcast contract with ESPN, CBS, Fox and NBC.

ESPN will broadcast Monday Night Football, while Fox will air Super Bowl LIV and Thursday Night Football, which will also be broadcast on NFL Network.

NBC carried the opening game on September 5, and will broadcast the prime time Thanksgiving game and Sunday Night Football.

CBS and FOX, meanwhile, will carry the Sunday afternoon games.
