June and the early weeks of July are often the least eventful parts of the NFL season, as most players and staff are taking time off before the season starts. That doesn’t mean that nothing happens. There are some minor signings; and this year, we saw a major trade when Baker Mayfield was sent to the Panthers for a draft pick.
Still, it’s nowhere near as busy as NFL free agency or the lead-up to the draft, and NFL fans often get antsy waiting for the 2022 season to start.
Now, they won’t have to wait very long to see that happen.

NFL training camps are now beginning to open and it won’t be long before all of the NFL’s 32 teams are back in action. Rookies will report first for most teams, but some teams prefer to have all players arrive at once.
Either way, the first of the NFL camps will open on July 18 and within a few weeks, we will be deep into NFL preseason action.
Here is everything to know about NFL training camp, including when each team reports and what they will be allowed to do during the seven-day event.

NFL training camp dates 2022
Rookies report: July 18-26 Veteran players report: July 23-26 Full-contact practices start: July 30-August 2
Almost every year, the start of training camp varies by team. The only time it didn’t was during the 2020 NFL season, when every team kept the same schedule and the preseason was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, the earliest that rookies will report to training camp will be on July 18. Both the Bills and Raiders will begin their activities that day. The latest will be the 26th, which is when about a dozen NFL teams will begin their ramp-up period with both rookies and veterans.
Below is a rundown of when training camp begins for each team. The report dates for the rookies and the veterans are listed; training camp doesn’t start in full until veteran players are asked to report.

NFL training camp schedules 2022
While NFL training camps don’t all start at the same time, they do follow the same formula. There is no contact permitted at the first three days of training camp for any team. Gradually, they ramp up over the next four days — with Day 6 being a mandatory day off — before full-contact practices begin on Day 7 of camp.
Below is a breakdown of each of the training camp mini phases:
Once the ramp-up period is over, NFL teams will be able to treat each week as a game week during the preseason. Additionally, teams will be able to host joint practices with other NFL teams. Those help simulate game action and create better live practice reps.

NFL training camp locations 2022
Almost all NFL teams host their training camp in the state where they are primarily located. However, not all of these teams work out at the team facility.
Some teams have their own training facilities. Others don’t and use their stadiums as their main headquarters. Others pick up and move entirely — be it to available college fields or other venues both public and private — to get ready for the season.
Some teams do a little of everything, as numerous squads will hold joint practices with one another. Usually, they end up being preseason opponents and the road team travels a week before the game to practice against the team they are playing. That gives talent evaluators more situations — and reps — in which to assess their players.
