The former Oklahoma Sooners star went three-for-eight for just 12 yards and was twice flagged for false starts. For both Murray and the Cardinals it’s way too early to panic but some major improvements are needed.

Murray wasn’t the only rookie quarterback to struggle, as Daniel Jones, the sixth overall pick of the draft, endured a roller-coaster of a game against the Chicago Bears.

The New York Giants signal caller finished 11-of-14 and one touchdown, but fumbled the ball twice. Elsewhere, Marcus Mariota finished six-for-nine for 63 yards and a touchdown, doing his chances of remaining the starting quarterback for the Tennessee Titans no harm at all.

Meanwhile, Tayson Hill threw two touchdown passes as the New Orleans Saints erased a 14-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Chargers 19-17. The quarterback added 53 rushing yards as he staked his claim to be Drew Brees’ backup.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Week 3.

TV coverage

Six games will be broadcast nationally in Week 3 of preseason, with NFL Network showing three while NBC, FOX and CBS have one each.

It all begins on Thursday night when the Jacksonville Jaguars play the Dolphins in Miami, while Friday’s game features the Buffalo Bills against the Lions in Detroit.

Three games will be broadcast across the country on Saturday, with the Minnesota Vikings hosting the Arizona Cardinals, before the Houston Texans travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys.

The Los Angeles Chargers then round off the action later on Saturday night, when they welcome the Seattle Seahawks.

The only game scheduled for Sunday is the Pittsburgh Steelers’ trip to Tennessee to face the Titans.
