The crash occurred in Covington, Georgia, a small town about 30 miles east of Atlanta, Thursday evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). St. Louis reportedly agreed to acquire third baseman Nolan Arenado from the Rockies in a trade. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported that Colorado will also send the Cards about $50 million and that Arenado will defer salary. The deal reportedly could take days to complete as it is pending approval by Arenado, MLB and the players association as well as physicals. Rosenthal reported that Arenado will retain his ability to opt out of his contract after the 2021 season, gain a second opt-out for 2022 and retain his no-trade clause with the Cardinals if the move goes through....

One town in North Carolina is continuing its annual Bigfoot hunt by taking some cues from the folklore legend himself. They’re doing this by keeping to themselves as they search for sasquatch. Instead of scouring the woods in big groups, McDowell County is hosting a Bigfoot Scavenger Hunt, in which residents can participate individually. The county’s tourism board announced the shift to the scavenger hunt on Monday. “Bigfoot is the social distancing champion of the world,” Landdis Hollifield with McDowell County Tourism told WLOS Channel 6 News....

On Monday, North Dakota’s department of health reported 475 new COVID-19 cases—a figure double the number of non-ICU hospital beds available in the state. The state agency confirmed to Newsweek that there are currently 240 non-ICU staffed inpatient beds available across the state’s 45 health facilities. As of Monday, October 12, there are 158 hospitalizations in North Dakota. Only 20 ICU beds are available at this time and more than half of those beds are located in the city of Fargo, with six beds at Essentia Health, four at Sanford Health and one at VA Hospital....
