The South Korean military Joint Chiefs of Staff confirmed on Monday, early Tuesday local time, that the firing of a yet another unidentified projectile from North Korea, officially known as the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), eastward toward the sea had been detected, according to Yonhap News Agency. A South Korea National Defense Ministry spokesperson later confirmed the report to Newsweek. “Our military detected a projectile which was fired from Moopyonri area, Jagang province in NK to east, 6:40 today and it was assumed a short range missile,” the spokesperson said....

The unidentified North Korean ministry official called the alliance an “extremely” dangerous move that would destroy the security balance in the Asia-Pacific. The official said it would set off a nuclear arms race. The official also threatened countermeasures should the deal become a security concern for the recluse nation. “The prevailing situation shows once again that bolstering the capabilities for national defense from a long-term perspective should not be slackened even a bit in order to cope with the ever-changing international security environment,” the Korean Central News Agency quoted the official as saying....

“We will make them realize by the minute what a dangerous choice they made and what a serious security crisis they will face because of their wrong choice,” said Kim Yong Chol, a senior ruling party official who handles affairs with South Korea. North Korea has not broadcast a live military parade on television since 2017, when leader Kim Jong Un heightened U.S. tensions by showing off several large ICBMs. The country showed off its “new strategic weapon,” which analysts described as a much larger, liquid fuel ICBM complete with an 11 axle transporter erector launcher. A federal judge in New York ordered the state comptroller to give $240,000 seized to Warmbier’s parents, Fred and Cindy Warmbier of Wyoming, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. The seized funds are assets from the Kwangson Banking Corporation, which is tied to the North Korean government, according to NBC News. The money will be a payment toward an award of $501 million a different judge in the District of Columbia ordered the Warmbiers receive in 2018, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported....
