This isn’t to say Week 12 is void of its share of toss-up games. The Texans, Titans and 49ers opened as three-point home favorites over the Colts, Jaguars and Packers, respectively, making them toss-ups in the eyes of Vegas. The Eagles also opened as two-point home favorites over the Seahawks. To balance out those close spreads, the Browns and Saints opened as double-digit favorites over the Dolphins and Panthers, respectively....

Philly was aggressive in the offseason, with its biggest move being a trade for Pro Bowl wideout A.J. Brown. Fast forward nine months, and the Eagles are in the driver’s seat after finishing the regular season as the NFL’s top team. The Linc can be a tough place for opponents to play in the best of times. When Philadelphia is firing on all cylinders, it can be nigh on impossible to get a win there....

The New Orleans Saints became the first team to book a playoff spot this season with a 26-18 road win over the Atlanta Falcons, which improved their record to 10-2 and secured a third consecutive NFC South title. It guaranteed the Saints will be playing football in January. The Buffalo Bills, meanwhile improved to 9-3 with a statement 26-15 win on the road against the Dallas Cowboys to move within touching distance of a wildcard spot....

With the Cowboys’ defense ranked 26th against the pass, Tate could have a big day in a potential upset bid for Detroit....

In 2016, the Chiefs strolled into Houston and left after thrashing the Texans 30-0 in the AFC wild-card round, as Andy Reid secured a first playoff win as Kansas City head coach. Frustratingly for him and for Chiefs fans, Reid has added just one postseason win to his resume in the intervening four years—against the Indianapolis Colts last season—and Kansas City has never made it to the Super Bowl....

The top seed in each conference receives a bye. The Tennessee Titans won the AFC’s top spot while the Green Bay Packers clinched the NFC’s top seed, and both of these teams will get a weekend of rest before hosting a divisional round game the following weekend. Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow and his outstanding rookie receive, Ja’Marr Chase, will make their NFL playoff debut in the weekend’s first game when they host the Las Vegas Raiders, who won a wild game last Sunday night in overtime to grab the final playoff spot....

The former Alabama quarterback’s stock enjoyed a meteoric rise in the lead up to the NFL Draft back in April, when Jones was widely regarded as a shoo-in to be selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the third overall pick. The 49ers picked North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance instead, with Jones falling all the way down to No. 15, where he was picked up by the Patriots....

The No. 1 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft went 9-of-19 for 131 yards with an interception and was sacked twice in Tampa Bay’s preseason opener against the Vikings. He turned the ball over on Tampa’s next two possessions, with an interception and fumble....

On Sunday, the top game of the day will be the 49ers heading east to Baltimore to take on the Ravens, as well as the Patriots and Texans facing off on Sunday night....

Both teams will be tasked with trudging ahead sans Hall of Fame quarterback, with Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger out for the season and New Orleans’ Drew Brees out for at least a few weeks with an injured thumb, for which he will have surgery. Brees will avoid a trip to the IR. The two veteran quarterbacks entered the year under center for likely playoff-bound teams if not Super Bowl contenders. Now those rosters will have to find away to keep the offenses operating without those two....

In the AFC, the Titans took care of business and beat the Jaguars in order to make the playoffs as the No. 5 seed. The second playoff clincher was an upset — the Bills ended their 17-year playoff drought thanks to their win over the Dolphins combined with the Ravens’ loss to the Bengals. The tie was significant for a myriad of reasons, not least of which is that they entered Sunday with the sixth and seventh seeds in the NFC playoff picture. With the Giants finishing at 7-4-1 and the Commanders going to 7-5-1, they upped the ante for their upcoming matchup in two weeks. Elsewhere in the NFC East, the Eagles moved to 11-1 with a decisive 35-10 win over the Titans in a good old-fashioned revenge game for A....

The schedule for all the 32 franchises for the 2021 season is set to be released during a three-hour show, which begins at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network and NFL.com. Aside from the slate for each team, the show will also reveal which games have been allocated the primetime slots of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football. Precious little is known about the upcoming season, aside from the fact that it will feature 17 games per team for the first time in history and that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to begin the season at home, as has become tradition for the reigning Super Bowl champions....
